Stomper Six – The Band

Dialogue with the Primal – Going Solo at Stomper Six
“We’ve come so far with technology, but sometimes it feels like we’ve lost something primal along the way.”
That’s the line I kept circling back to when I started writing Dialogue with the Primal. A track born not just from riffs and screams, but from a desire to reconnect with the rawness of creating music on my own.
It’s the first full track I’ve written, recorded, and mixed solo in a long time. Normally, I thrive in a band environment. Bouncing ideas around. Getting those instant reactions from fellow musicians. Making decisions as a unit. But this time, it was just me.
🎯 Why I Did It
I wanted to prove I still could.
I hadn’t released anything myself in ages. Life gets busy. Creativity can feel like a luxury.
So I picked up the guitar. Programmed the drums. Tracked the bass. Layered the synths. Shouted the vocals. Mixed it. Mastered it. All of it, just me.
🤘 The Challenges of Flying Solo
I won’t lie. It was hard.
Shouting into a microphone? Rougher than I remembered.
The guitar playing? Very rusty.
The mixing decisions? Endless.
Working alone means total freedom, but also no safety net. When I’m mixing for a band, I’ve got their input. Their feedback. Their ears. Here, every decision was mine. And there were moments I wished I’d made different calls. But you don’t grow by playing it safe.
It forced me to trust my gut. And to sharpen my editing game. Tight rhythms. Clean cuts. Sculpted tones.
If you’ve read my post Behind the Faders, you’ll know I never set out to become an engineer. I just wanted to make music. But the skills I’ve built through the studio saved me here.
🎧 Listen to the Track
Dialogue with the Primal is out now. It’s heavy, sharp, and surgically tight. Because even primal energy deserves clarity.
If you’ve ever felt the tug between modern life and something older, something deeper, it might speak to you.

Thanks for listening.
Thanks for supporting.
And if this post helped you find your way back to creating, go write something. Or scream it.
I’ll be happy to mix it for you.
